WOW... Dance Intensive Schedule

We got our schedules for dance intensive!

We have some crazy classes! The time was cut back 30 minutes, so it's only a 3 hour intensive, 5 days a week, for 3 weeks, and I've done three hours of class in a day before so it shouldn't be to tiring. There are probably going to be 2-5 girls in my level... So I think it will be fun!

The classes include:
Modern
Improvisation (I LOVE improv!)
Composition
Ballet
Stretching
Repertory (Not sure what that is)
Joint Care (STRANGE HUH?)
Jazz
Pilates
Traditional Chinese Dance (More strange stuff)
Cappoeira (EVEN MORE STRANGE STUFF! But I think it sounds fun!)
Music (I hope we get to learn to play the African Drums!)
Nutrition
Jazz Choreography
Partnering (I don't think it get's any stranger!!!!!! EEEK!)

They also have an optional break dance class which I don't know if I am doing or not.

But anyway, I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited for intensive! (Except partnering)

I once told Amanda that I had a very flexible foot, or a "banana foot" as my ballet teacher says. So for those of you who wonder what my foot looks like, there you have it.

MY recommended leotards

I thought it might be fun for me to share some of my FAVORITE leotards with you.

Dance Department Scoop Tank Leotard
$9.15 (Child) $10.95 (Adult)
Poly\Spandex
My review: I got this leotard when I was 8 years old, I jumped from taking 2 hours per week, to taking 6 hours per week, so my mom decided to buy me a second leotard since I was taking ballet 3 time per week. We ordered a black, medium, child. I really liked it. It was very comfortable, and easy to move around in. It seemed a little small though, so I would recommend buying a size up. I don't know about the life span, because I only got to wear it for 6 months, then I moved and had to wear a light blue leotard.
I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars

Bloch Scoop front tank leotard
$10.50 (Child)
Cotton\Lycra
My Review: I got this leotard when I was 9 years old, I had moved up to Ballet 2, and I we had to wear burgundy\maroon. This was a nice leotard. The cotton gets a little scratchy after washing it twice a week for a year, but it holds up very nicely. Unfortunately, it is only sold in child sizes... So if you are 5' 7" like me, you can't get it. AGAIN, I don't know about the life span of this leotard because I only got to wear it for a year, then I changed schools, moved up to ballet 3, and wore navy blue.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars

Capezio Camisole Leotard w\ V back
$10.95 (Child) $13.95 (Adult)
Cotton\Lycra Spandex
My review: I got this leotard last year (when I was 11), in navy blue when I out grew my other navy blue leotard (WHICH WAS AN AWFUL LEOTARD). THIS IS MY FAVORITE LEOTARD EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!! Later that year, we had to get black camisole leotards for a dance concert. I got the same leotard (only black), and we ordered with two friends. They both complained about the seam at the top pressing into there spine and hurting, but I haven't had that problem at all. I (AGAIN) don't know about the life span, because I only wore it for the navy leotard for one year. And the black one for a show, an audition, and helping out with Creative Movement for 4 months, but I will be wearing the black one again next year since I moved up to ballet 4!
I give it 5 out of 5 stars!

You can find, and order all three of these leotards at Discount Dance Supply.

I'M BORED!

YES! Believe it or not, I want dance to start again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bored without it.... and I still have more than 4 weeks until dance intensive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mom was turning in fall registration on Monday, and was telling the director that I'm already ready for dance to start again. The director said all the teachers were tired and needed a break. I think that 1 week is enough time off... My friend said she needs at least 3 weeks... I was ready two days after the recital...

I know, this was a useless post

YAY!!! Sucess!!!! And some great memories...

Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The show went great!!!!!!!!!!! I was a little rusty on Friday night (I was late on a move in modern, stumbled in Ballet thu, and was to fast in the first thing in tap (we all did that though)). But both of the Saturday shows I did GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and by the way, remember when we had to push the carts, while hiding our faces? Well at dress rehearsal the tech guy told the director that when we pushed the carts across the stage, it looked like floating faces... So when we got to the recital on Friday, the costume mistress' daughter hand me a black pantie hoe sock, and told me that we had to put them over our faces... That was crazy!

Now for some funny memories (I'm just gonna use initials when talking about my friends):

Me, AC, EB, and EW were bored... So we decided to have a rock, paper, scissors tournament. I played against EW, and AC played against EB. AC and I are both 12, and EW and EC are both 9. Well EW and EC won, so they were up against each other. EB won the first round, EW won the second round... And then they started laughing to hard to continue. So AC and I grabbed there hands and shaped there hands for the game... They kept laughing REALLY hard. EB calmed down, but EW kept laughing. While EB and I tried to bring EW back to her senses random girls would run over and make EW laugh EVEN HARDER. And finally 15 minutes later, she was back to normal.

Since we had two performances on Saturday, we went out for dinner in between. Originally it was just going to be me and 3 of my good friends. Then one friend asked if she could come with us, and then she got some money from her dad, and came with us. While we were walking there, we found out that 3 of more of our friends were eating dinner at the same place! They had two great big tables, so all the moms sat at one table, and one REALLY FUN kids table! We had a wonderful time at dinner.

On our way back to the theater, some of the girls decided to ballet run back, and to curtsy to everyone they saw. So a car drove by, and they curtsied and then the person rolled there window open, and it was our studio's director!!!! Then she said, "You girls look very nice." And drove away. That was really funny!

Oh, and not to mention, during intermission, one of the older girls pulled out her i-pod, and decided we were all going to do a cha cha slide! It was really funny, especially because it was like 50 girls wearing all sorts of costumes, including tutus!!! Then, one of the teachers and the girl playing peter pan decided to come in and join us! One of my friends picked up my camera and started filming everyone. I was really glad she did, because it was so much fun, and another great memory!

LOTS OF THINGS!

FIRST OF ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I FOUND A PICTURE OF MY TAP COSTUME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We aren't wearing the blue choker, we decided to sew it onto the leotard as a second strap.

Today shall be very boring.... No class, No rehearsal, No nothing! I'm kind of happy, kind of not.... Maybe it's good though.... Here is my schedule for the next couple days:
Thursday, Dress Rehearsal: Arrive at the theater at 3:00, go home at 8:00

Friday, Show (Day #1): Arrive at the theater at 6:00, (show at 7:00), go home at 10:00

Saturday, Show (Day #2): Arrive at the theater at 1:00, (show at 2:00), get dinner at 4:30, be back at the theater by 6:00, (show at 7:00), go home at 10:00!

WHEW!!!! Long days, I calculated that we will be at the theater for 5 hours on Thursday, 4 hours on Friday, and 9 HOURS ON SATURDAY!!!

Yesterday we had rehearsal for the ballet scene. Basically, what happens, is tinker bell has two BEST friends. So best friend #1 does a solo, ballet 1 does a dance, Best friend #2 does a solo, ballet 3 sat. does a dance, tinkerbell does a solo, ballet 3 thu. does a dance, and then ballet 6 finishes that section off with a dance.

Now you know WHY we had the rehearsal. It went really well! We were able to practice the whole thing 3 times, once facing the mirror, and twice facing the back.

And lastly, yesterday, after the rehearsal, I got pulled into something TOTALLY random for the show.

After the rehearsal, the director came in, and was like, "ARE THERE ANY SHADOWS HERE?" So me and 3 other girls came up... And here is what we were supposed to do.

In the star dance, Peter Pan, Wendy, John, and Michael have to "fly" across the stage. So the director's husband made these little cart things for them to fly across on. We have to run across the stage pushing the characters on the carts! I thought that was pretty creative, and funny. :P Since we have the black unitards, the audience can't see us very well.
