Happy Good Friday!

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. -John 15:13

I am among the few saying this. Most people are saying "Happy Earth Day!", but I find that there is something more important today. Jesus.

11 Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied. 12 When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. 13 Then Pilate asked him, “Don’t you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?” 14 But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor. 15 Now it was the governor’s custom at the festival to release a prisoner chosen by the crowd. 16 At that time they had a well-known prisoner whose name was Jesus[b] Barabbas. 17 So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?” 18 For he knew it was out of self-interest that they had handed Jesus over to him. 19 While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat, his wife sent him this message: “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him.” 20 But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed. 21 “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” asked the governor. “Barabbas,” they answered. 22 “What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” Pilate asked. They all answered, “Crucify him!” 23 “Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!” 24 When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!” 25 All the people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children!” 26 Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified. 27 Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. 28 They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, 29 and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said. 30 They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. 31 After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him. 32 As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross. 33 They came to a place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”). 34 There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, he refused to drink it. 35 When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. 36 And sitting down, they kept watch over him there. 37 Above his head they placed the written charge against him: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS. 38 Two rebels were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left. 39 Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads 40 and saying, “You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!” 41 In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. 42 “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. 43 He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” 44 In the same way the rebels who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him.

Jesus loved you and me so much, that he died  just for you and me.

Step 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 Turn 1, 2, 3, 4

Those are counts of my character dance. Ah, yes, my precious character dance. I.absolutely.love.it.

Why do I love it? Well, you know how sometimes you learn a preparing for recital, and the teachers give you really easy choreography? Well this dance wasn't choreographed for our level. It was choreographed for the studio company. We are now doing it in Ballet 4 for the recital. The steps start out slow, but they get quite fast and fun! It has a lot of partner stuff, which is always fun! Whenever you are dancing with others and you look at them, you can't help to smile! It's so fun!

The steps are very fast, which makes them hard. But that's good! Hard steps means it takes more of an effort to learn, which makes it more fullfilling to perform when you're done! Anyway, here's the song we are doing it to!

We Got Our Tap Costumes!!!

Let's start at the beginning of the day. I went to Target, and got a lovely pair of converse!!!

That's what they look like! (Not my picture)

Then, I set foot outside to wear them for the first time (which was on my way to dance), and it starts pouring rain. I'm in the car with my friend, and her mom is driving us. The rain suddenly gets so bad, that we have to stop at a gas station and get out. Let's just say there was about 3 inches of water on the ground and my brand new, never before warn, name brand converse, got soaked. When it started to calm down, we went back in the car, and drove the rest of the way to the dance studio. I took off my shoes, pulled the laces out, and let them dry, and even after sitting out for 3 hours, they still weren't dry. So I put them in the clothing dryer when I got home, and even after 1 hour, they STILL weren't dry, so I left them out over night. Thankfully, they are dry now.

Anyway, we had ballet class, most people weren't there :P. After barre, we spent most the class practicing the dance. It's looking good :)

Then, in tap class, WE GOT OUR COSTUMES!!!!

Yes, I know, I've showed this picture before. But anyway. It turns out, we got the pants AND the tutu. We aren't sure which one we are wearing yet, but I want to wear the tutu! It's sooooo cute!!!

My Tap Costume!!!

Just a quick little post today! So I've been looking for a picture of my tap costume for a while now, and I just couldn't find one. Coincedentally, I couldn't find a picture of my friend's little sister's costume either. When her class took there costumes home, I asked my friend to look at the skirt of her sister's costume to see what it said. She e-mailed me back saying it was "Dansco", so I got on their website, and found MY COSTUME! Here's a picture:

We have the one with the pants

Also, I thought I might as well show you my friend's little sister's costume, since it's so cute!
They are waitresses!

A Little of Everything...

Ahh, Lots to post about today... Where shall I begin. I'll just go through my whole week I guess.

Creative Movement: They have a SUPER adorable dance! It's the sweetest thing I have EVER seen a Creative Movement class ever do!!! I already told you that they are dancing to "Lollipop" by The Chordettes, but it's a different version and they are wearing Lime Green Tutus!!!

Ballet 3: Originally we were going to dance to a Russian song, but it was just WAAAY to fast, so my teacher picked out some new music, and asked the director if he could change. She said OK, and I LOVE our new music. I'll try to find out the name of the song for y'all. Also, we are dancing with these really cute and sparkly lollipops! In some parts of the dance we *pretend* to lick them!

Ballet 3x: We have the same song as Ballet 3, so it's also quite cute. We get to come out doing my favorite combination!

Ballet 4: This is the class that we are doing the Character dance for! We are Veruca Salt's classmates! Our costumes are Neon Pink character skirts and white blouses. Anyway, the dance is really cool, and fairly simple. Although, we don't have the real character shoes yet, but we will probably get them this week or next, and I've heard that it's a lot harder with Character shoes...

Tap: Our teacher was sick last week, so the director came and taught. It was really fun! She taught us some interesting (and confusing) rythymns.

Jazz: I love this dance! Despite the fact that we are oompa loompas, it's really fun!

Modern: YIKES. We had a rehearsal with Modern 4 on Tuesday. They have HUGE color guard flags, and we have do everything we can to not get hit with them. When we practice by ourselves though, it's a lot of fun!

Pre-Ballet: They're dance is so sweet! Although, as much as I'M scared about getting hit by a flag, I'm even MORE scared that my sweet little Pre-Balleters will get hit!

More Music!

Yes! More about music! I like to post about music, cause I can let you listen to it!

Anyway, so lately in modern, we have each been choreographing a solo about a picture. Here's mine:

(I do not own this picture)

My concept, is that you're living your life pretty normally, and some how, you get stuck for a while and you're miserable, and then you learn to accept things for the way they are, and then finally you get released and you live your life in a better, more full out way then before you got stuck.

Like I said we have been working on these for a while, so we had quite a bit of choreography without music. Yesterday, my teacher picked a song for us to put our choreography to, and to help us finish. My song is from the Slumdog Millionaire sound track.  The song is a little more dramatic than I originally intended it to be, but I like it!
