Soul Surfer Movie Review

Hey Everyone! As you can tell, I just got back from seeing the movie "Soul Surfer" with a couple of friends! We had a blast, and the movie was phenomenal!

However, before I do my review, I would like to address a very important factor. This is a VERY religious movie. As Bethany Hamilton is a christian, and says that Jesus was what gave her her hope and courage, the movie talks a lot about it. I completely agree with this, however, if you read any secular reviews, you will see that the critique thrashes the movie apart. As a christian, I have a different view on this movie, so here is my view:

"Soul Surfer" is a movie based on a true story about a 13 year old girl named Bethany Hamilton. Bethany loves to surf, but one morning while she was in the water, a 14 foot tiger shark came and took her left arm. Bethany lost 60% of her blood, but still survived. When she leaves the hospital, she quickly discovers how hard life was gonna be with only one arm.

The movie was amazing. The special effects were incredible. The actors were not the least bit cheesey. The whole thing was EXTREMELY well done. The movie was very accurate to the whole story.

Most people are who are squeemish (like me!), are hesitant to see the movie because they are afraid that the shark attack would be really gross and bloody. As far as gorriness, you see blood poor into the water. Then after the get to shore, one of Bethany's companions wraps his shirt around her shoulder. You see a bloody shirt around her shoulder, but that's all for blood. Honestly, it really wasn't that gross, and if I had to pick the grossest part, it would be after they got ashore, Bethany's friend Alana got really upset and scared, and started throwing up.

My favorite part, was when Bethany went to Thailand after a tsunami, she meets a little boy who (like everyone else in Thailand) is scared to go in the water due to the tsunami. Bethany asked another kid if she could borrow his board, and then teaches the little boy how to surf. It was so sweet!

In conclusion, this was the best movie made in the 21st century that I have ever seen! It was such an inspirational story, and crazy to think that the whole thing was a true story! I would definitely reccomend this movie to anyone.
