Dancing from your heart, There's no better place to start. Dancing is an art, But you
have to dance your part.
Whether the music is soft or loud, If you know exactly how,
You will be dancing on the clouds.
"It's what I've always wanted to do, to show the laughter, the fun, the joy of dance." ~Martha Graham
I have been highly anticipating the start of Company, and we have already finished our first week! Our schedule is kind of weird, but we had rehearsals Monday, Tuesday, Thursday this week. And then next week we have rehearsal Monday and Tuesday. Then the next couple following weeks is Tuesdays and Thursdays. All our rehearsals are 2 and a half hours long.
So anyway, here's what we did this week:
Monday: We had barre warm-up and then we worked on our ballet piece. It's actually based off of the movie "The Village". The Music we are using is really cool, and the choreography is very intricate with lots of floor work. Here's the music so you can hear it:
This is the first song.
Then we use this song when the battle scene starts.
We haven't started the battle scene yet, and not everybody gets to be in the battle scene. Only 10 of us, I'm hoping I'll be in it, but I'm not really sure.
Tuesday: We did a jazz warm up while the ballet teacher finished up with the Junior Company. Then the ballet teacher came back and we did more work on ballet.
Thursday: We did a jazz warmup, plus some stuff across the floor. Then my jazz teacher said she'd pick people for the small group jazz. And... I GOT PICKED!!! I'm so excited to get the oppertunity to be in this number with all the really good dancers! I'm actually the youngest, and lowest leveled girl who was picked for the number, so I feel very honored. We are doing the number to the song "Feeling Good" by Michael Buble. You probably already know this song, but in case you aren't, here's a video.
So anyway, we got a good chunk done. We are probably about halfway already!!!! Good thing to, my teacher is wanting us to be able to perform in at a fair on August 25, which is in 3 weeks! So anyway, yeah... that's what's going on! Stay tuned for a new post soon!
P.S. I do not own those videos, and I give full credit to the owners.
Hi guys!
My name is Jasmine. I'm 13 years old and I'm going into 8th grade! I LOVE to dance! I am currently attending dance at FSPA (Franklin School of Performing Arts.)
We are on Summer Break right now, but in the fall, I will be taking Ballet,Tap, Modern, and Jazz. I have been taking ballet for 11 years, Tap for 7 years, Modern for 5 years, pointe for 3 years, and Jazz for 2 years. I'm also in the Performance Company. Which means I get to dance with my company group at Fairs and Festivals around town. You have to audition to get in, and take Ballet, Modern, and Jazz. I also will be assisting 2 Creative Movement classes, and Tap 1. This is my 4th year assisting Creative Movement, but my first year with Tap 1! I'm so excited to get to learn more teaching methods!!
Please enjoy my blog!

About This Blog
I love to dance, and when I got into the whole blogging thing, I immediately knew I wanted a blog about dance. Dancing on Clouds was originally called On Your Toes, and was made in Spring 2010, with a partner. Later that partner got to busy, and I got bored with the name. Dancing on clouds is my own "Journal" about dance. I tell of all my dreams and where my heart (and feet!) take me. It takes a special person to want to read about my love of dance, because often times it is confusing. So I wanted to be able to tell people about my passion, by letting them choose what they wanted to know. And I enjoy posting, even if nobody reads my posts. The name Dancing on Clouds came from my passion of not just going to class and do what the teacher says, but going into my bonus room when I'm home alone, and being able to dance from my heart. I truly believe that dancing on clouds is where talented dancers really begin. Please enjoy my blog (sorry about my confusing ballet spellings and descriptions.)

Dance,by Mary Carolyn Davies
God is in me when I dance.
God, making Spring
Out of his thoughts
And building worlds
By wishing.
God
Laughing at his own
Queer fancies
And sobbing;
Musing;
Dreaming;
Throbbing;
Commanding;
Creating-
God is in me
When I dance.
